Updated my site

I was ready for a change,  so updated my site on posterous.  I had grown tired of the old one -  the content was unorganized and the background image looked noisy, fixed to a certain window size .   I've been working on some side projects and had been influenced by how simplicity goes a long way.  Used an Obox Design posterous theme and customized it a bit.   I didn't like how the Mad Men theme looked - although I like the black background it was too dark and that lead the eyes to the content on a narrow white strip.  I wanted content displayed everywhere but collected, ordered, easy on the eyes, and allows flow from one to another.   I changed the background to a dark gray and added a ornate design bordered around the left sidebar.  With that small css change, it looks so much different!  Let me know what you think!

1st Sewing Project Completed

Zak and I just finished our first sewing project - pillowcovers and a duvet cover.   It was no small feat.  I wanted to quit after doing the pillows, but Zak slapped me silly and told me I should shut up and finish it.  So we did and I love it very much.  I'm really happy with the outcome.  We bought the comforter from Ikea and went to Stitches to handpick our fabric. I really love this fabric, It's soft, thin, light and imported from japan (matilda loves it).   We also included a 22" zipper for our comforter and it looks so pretty!  Check out our photos below.

Happy 2nd Anniversary @madzak

Thank you for the flowers honey!

RIP Lucy

Lucy died yesterday in the house at 2pm PT. She had a hard life growing up, that kitty, but she fought hard and never gave up. We will miss her and hope she's doing well in kitty heaven.

Rockaraoke "You Sing. We Play" at Snoqualmie Casino

We went to Snoqualmie Casino for Chris' Birthday.   Every Sunday Rockaraoke performs at the SNO lounge.  I have just experienced the next level of karaoke! This article pretty much describes Rockaraoke.  Anyways, I have no desire to perform but most of the people in our group went up there and sang their heart out with a live band playing and I fully 100% support that.   Everyone in the group did a great job hitting those notes.  The band was lively and into every song and surprising the audience was very kind to all rockstars - first timers as well as the not so great.  Special mention to Zak, @madzak, whom went up there and sang Enter Sandman by Metallica and was an instant hit.  So proud of him!  I wish I had requested a videotape but I have a hunch we might be coming here for future celebrations.

My week challenge

I would like to find a happy medium where I feel accomplished at the
end of each week and create a realistic balance between productivity
and relaxation. To motivate myself, I create urgency and force
pressure onto myself that sometimes works and other times it backfires
and creates stress. So this week I set some goals that i think it
will keep me focused on my longterm goals and yet lend time for some
fun.
* Work on side web projects (15+ hrs)
* Read 10 articles on iPhone OS 4 development
* Brainstorm on mobile applications
* Work on business needs (15+ hrs)
* Write up one Yelp review and attend an event

Memorial Day 2010

I hope everyone had a good memorial day weekend. I know mine was full
of booze, food, and friends. We went to the annual Folklife Festival
at the Seattle Center on Saturday. Free admission to all 4 days. I am
not sure how to describe this event but it was sure a clash of food,
music and people. Each corner of the festival played in a different
tune - blue grass to hip hop to grunge to etc. And scattered around
the ground were food vendors and merchants. You can count on the
usual carnival foods but there were african, thai, chinese, indian,
and german goodies. That was exciting fun checking out the people in
Seattle. I think next time I will try to wear an outfit that blends
well in the crowd.. Looked to normal with jeans and a black jacket.
So after it got dark, we hit up chinatown Bush Garden for some karaoke
and Sake. It was really fun... I don't have the nerve to sing but many
others were excellent and got the crowd going. Memorial day weekend
doesn't end without a cookout or it wouldn't be called memorial day
weekend. So we had people at the house, grilled up some juicy
hamburgers and beer-soaked brats, drank screwdrivers, and played Wii
Monopoly. Can't believe it's already June! Where does the time go?

We Rule a ngmoco game I am playing on the iPad. Please add me as a friend: judyzspl1

So I just recently received an iPad for my graduation gift and have
been totally immersed with this new sleek toy! Loving it. I have
forced myself to use the iPad for everything I normally do on my
computer like surfing the net, watching videos, reading rss/books,
sending email, edit photos, writing code, chatting, and writing up
papers. It's not that easy. I wrote a web proposal on this thing and
it felt so foreign to me. The two finger typing thing reminds me of
how funny I thought my dad looked when he typed that way on the
keyboard. It just felt weird. I think I can get used to it though
it's like learning how to play the piano and knowing where the keys
are. As for writing code ... What a pain in the ass. There's so much
involved and I don't think there are any apps that do everything for
you. On my computer, I have multiple apps opened for development:
MAMP, Versions, and Textmate. Other than that, I can pretty much do
what I do usually. So, the iPad opened me up to games. I have found
a free game that is really fun. If you are that person who likes
leveling, building, making money, and creating your own world (in this
case, kingdoms)... We Rule is an excellent game that also works on the
iPhone! You can also visit other worlds but you have to "friend"
others.. So please come join me and add me as a friend... judyzscpl1

Being unemployed never sounded so good

I'm so pumped up.. the place is looking so fine and homey. Just a few
more details to finish up and I will have pictures posted for all to
see. On another note, after almost a month in Seattle unemployed, I
am working on lots of mini-projects. A lot of these projects stems
from doing things that I find really interesting. My projects range
from photography, website & mobile design and development, and other
personal endeavors. I'm just having so much fun doing things on my
own from decorating, programming, planning, designing, and organizing.
Although I have planned to start looking for a job after a month, I
need more time there's really so much things I feel like experimenting
and trying out new things.
